Keeplas is passwordless -- there is no password to reset. You sign in with a one-time code sent over email (always required) or WhatsApp, and optionally with a passkey or authenticator app. The root of your encryption is your 24-word recovery phrase, which only you hold; we never have access to it. If you ever lose your phrase, the way back is Social Recovery: your trusted contacts cooperate to rebuild your master key on their own devices. Without Social Recovery configured, a lost recovery phrase means permanent loss of access -- by design, so that no one, not even Keeplas, can reach your data without your consent.
If you lose access to your email or authentication device, you can recover your account through Social Recovery. This feature lets you designate trusted contacts who can collectively verify your identity and help restore access. We recommend configuring Social Recovery as soon as you create your vault -- it is your safety net for the unexpected.
Social Recovery splits a recovery key across multiple trusted contacts using cryptographic secret sharing. No single contact holds enough information to access your vault on their own. When you need to recover your account, a minimum threshold of your contacts (for example, 3 out of 5) must confirm the request. This ensures security while providing a human-centered recovery path that does not depend on centralized authorities.
Yes. You can export your entire vault at any time in an encrypted archive. Keeplas believes your data belongs to you, and we will never hold it hostage. The export includes all documents, credentials, legacy messages, and delivery rules. You can also export in a decrypted format for personal backup, though we recommend keeping encrypted copies for security.
No. Keeplas has no monthly or annual subscription. The Free tier is free forever, and Lifetime is a single one-time payment that is yours for good -- there is nothing recurring to cancel. If Lifetime isn't right for you, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase. Should you ever stop using a paid feature, your data stays encrypted and accessible; only storage beyond your tier's limit becomes read-only.
